To understand the basic concepts we are going to use when we deal with business management problems:
Activity
Process
Business
Structure
System
Organization
Shareholders
Stakeholders
Models of organization
An activity is something we do in order to obtain a certain result
Each activity can be characterized by a beginning and an end, some inputs and outputs, a certain transformation of inputs in outputs, and a final result
The end points that represent the completion of an activity are generally called events
Some authors consider that an activity can be broken in smaller entities called tasks
The same activity can be interpreted from psychological point of view as WORK or PLAY
WORK is generated by an external field of forces with respect to an individual
PLAY is generated by an internal field of forces, due to his/her own motivation
Climbing a mountain by a tourist is a result of his own desire, ended with no payment. It is play
Climbing a mountain by a guide is work, ended with a payment. It is work.
