Communication is simply a method of sending a message from one person or group of persons to another. It is of vital importance to a business because it involves all the persons and organizations connected with the business: employees, customers, shareholders, suppliers, creditors, debtors, and a whole range of people outside: journalists, television reporters, tax authorities, local government and national government officials, the European Union and, indeed, any person or organization throughout the world with which the business has any contact.
Good communication will ensure that all these persons and organizations understand the message sent. They will also be more likely to respond favorably to the message if it appears to be reasonable and fair to both the receiver and the business.
Bad communication will have exactly the opposite effect. People will be confused by the message and less likely to do what the business wants.
That is why good communication is so essential. It is not only what you say (or write), but how you say it that is important. Your message should be easy to understand and take account of the receivers' own attitudes and feelings.
Business letters are more and more important and complex, as well as the English language, it is also a tress passing between formal and informal writing and speaking, which is considered benefit for the majority of the companies.
Business Letters in company to company communication presents in 4 chapters the importance of English language and the importance of good communication between companies.
There have been many books written on this subject, as: English language today, perception, varieties and acquisition by Luminita Andrei, How to write better Business Letters by Andrea Geffner, but the originality of this paper is to illustrate the situation of understanding the nonnative speakers of English when they have to do business with people from different cultures.
The paper is structured on 4 chapters. In the first chapter, Situation in which we write business letters, I spoke about the situation in which we can write letters, an also about the format of a business letter, one can find also some tactics and some rules that should be followed when writing a business letter.
The second chapter, English as an international language, it consist the historical context of English language, the cultural format, some statistics about the native and nonnative speakers and also some future meanings.
Types of business letters, the third chapter presents the most important letters from the business world, and also some rules in writing them.
Business Letters in different cultures, the fourth chapter surprises the importance of English language and it’s use in different cultures. One can also find a comparison between some cultures and the errors that may lead a partenership to a disaster.
Business Letters are more and more important in communication, the format as well as the language changes very easy and the barrier between formal and informal becomes invisible, but still some countries prefer to keep it still.
