A general description:

The Times Literary Supplement is a weekly literary newspaper which appears every Friday and usually has thirty-two pages. It first appeared in 1902 as a supplement to The Times, but became a separate publication in 1914. Now, the TLS still cooperates closely with The Times, and its online version is hosted on the Times website.

In TNS’s pages you can find essays, reviews and poems of the latest and most important publication, current theatre, opera, exhibitions and film.

The analysis of newspaper (I made it through the comparison of multiple copies):

1) How many pages has the newspaper?

Most newspapers that I have studied have thirty-two pages. The number of pages varies depending on the extent of material it contains. Some editions, such as those that follow, beyond the usual number of pages:

- The newspaper of 10 December, 2011 has forty-four pages.

- The newspapers of 10 December and 27 May, 2011, have thirty-six pages.

2) How many pages are taken up by news, business, sport, TV and radio channels and futures story?

In this supplement I have not found news, sport, business, TV and radio channels or futures story. From the total number of pages, most of them are occupied by literal critics, analyzes of text or reviews.

3) What is on each page?

In the contents of the newspaper are several items that are not missing from any edition. Some of the headings are at the same page in every newspaper, to other headings the number of pages changes.

- On the first page are the headlines of four or six articles, in general reviews or cultural notes

- On page 2, at the heading This week- is a review of a book, and the Contents.

- On pages 3 to 5 is the heading History and contains a cultural note (the number of pages varies from a supplement to another).

- The heading Letters to the Editor is only on page 6 and contains seven letters

- On pages 7, 8 or 9 (depends on the edition) are the headings Letters & History or Biography & History- contains one or two articles.

- On pages 10 or 12 is the heading Biography that contains a review.

- On pages 11, 13, 21 to 23, 24 or 24 to 25 you can find the heading Literary Criticism. It contains only a cultural note.

- The heading Commentary is only on page 14 and contains other two headings: Freelance-editorial and Then and now- review.

- The heading Arts is only on page 17 and contains two cultural notes to a movie, a book or a play.

- The heading Fiction is in generally on pages 19 or 20 and contains six reviews.
