Life Between Success and Failure

You are precisely where you are in life today for one reason and one reason only. The choices you have made. It's not your circumstances that determine your success or happiness, but the choices you make in those circumstances. Two people can experience an identical event, such as a financial disaster, and while one gives up and lives the rest of his or her life unhappy and penniless, the other decides to start over and ends up with more than he had before. This suggests that it's not our circumstances, but how we think about and choose to deal with them that determine the outcome.

"What is the greatest need of every man woman and child on the face of the earth after food, clothing and shelter?"

It's the need to feel important!

By understanding this and learning how to apply it, you'll put yourself in a position to succeed with people in every aspect of your life. "Eighty percent of failure is not because of a lack of ability to do a job, but inability to deal effectively with people". Won't it be nice to know exactly what to do to win with others in all aspects of life?

If you want a better life for yourself in any way, it is up to you to make it happen. Your new motto must become: "If It's To Be, It's Up To Me". You will have to give up a word very close to most people's heart. You will have to eliminate all BLAME from your life. In every circumstance of life you are where you are because of your own choices. No one put a gun to your head to make the choices and you alone are responsible if you want to change them. This includes your marriage, job, where you live and everything else. In other words you are now in the driver’s seat of your life and never again a passenger. Some of the good news about this decision is once you eliminate blame you also eliminate all anger from your life. Wow! All anger distills down to blame. The next time you feel yourself getting angry just stop and ask yourself, "Who am I blaming?"

Your success or failure in your life will be determined largely by your HABITS.

Good habits unlock the door to success and happiness while bad habits open the door to failure. No matter who we are we are a slave to our habits whether they are good or bad. Since we are slaves to our habits we may as well learn to be a slave to good ones. What you will learn next are some good habits that can vastly improve your life.

There are some benefits to growing old: Things you buy now probably won't wear out. You can live without sex, but not without glasses. Your investment in health insurance is about to pay off. Your secrets are safe with your friends now, because they can't remember them either. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first. You’re expected to go to sleep in your chair.

Conclusion: I can't understand why so many people fail to act when they learn things that will add to their success and happiness. You have to take intelligent action when you learn something that will help you. There's a world of difference between knowing and doing. To know and not to do is not to know.

It is the "advance man" of our true selves. Its roots are inward but its fruit is outward. It is our best friend or our worst enemy. It is more honest and more consistent than our words. It is an outward look based on our past experiences. It is a thing which draws people to us or repels them. It is never content until it is expressed. It is the librarian of our past. It is the speaker of our present. It is the prophet of our future.

Good attitude does not guarantee success but bad attitude guarantees failure.

Your attitude impacts your relationships, it colors your view of failure and it defines your approach to success.

Put It All In. This single little tip will sometimes make the difference between success and failure in any endeavor. As Mark Twain wrote in Pudd'n-head Wilson's Calender, "Put all your eggs in the one basket...but WATCH THAT BASKET!". Of course, sometimes you'll crash and burn, sometimes you may miss the final shot and lose the game , sometimes you may take chances, or say and do things that result in your "friends" or associates thinking that you've lost your mind. If you crash and burn , at least you will have flown. If you miss the final shot, you WILL have been the fulcrum on which victory and defeat are decided. And you will find that "friends" are always ready and willing to seek your guidance and leadership if only to have a hedge on all bets if and when a given proposition goes into the tank.

You can't expect success in any venture without the proper preparation.. To be a great athlete, to be the one with the ball in your hands as the clock ticks off the final seconds, you had better been born with the physical gifts associated with your chosen sport. You had better have done the required research in order to educate yourself in the finer points of technique, be it strength, footwork, eye-hand coordination and so forth. You had better be practicing MENTALLY as well as physically...every waking moment, as well as dreaming every night, visualizing yourself taking that last shot. And if you do the work, you had better KNOW that you are the one who DESERVES to take that shot.
